Your air filter is an essential part of your furnace and air conditioner yet it is most often the part that is forgotten about. Like the rest of your HVAC equipment, it’s out of sight, out of mind.
At Duststop, we are always seeking ways to improve the furnace filters we have been proudly manufacturing for the past 38 years, here in Canada. We are very pleased to launch our new and improved website, offering you, our valued customer, the best experience as you seek more information about our filters and search to find the filter that is right for you.
Did you know that the air you breathe in your home can have a huge effect on your health, especially if you suffer from allergies? On top of that, many of the things we all do to make our homes feel comfy and homely — like painting or using air fresheners or candles — can increase your exposure to pollutants and things that decrease your home’s air quality overall.
If you’ve ever gone to buy a new air filter, seen the term “MERV rating” and wondered what on earth it means, then don’t panic, you’re not alone. And although a MERV rating (which stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) sounds complicated, in reality, it’s quite straightforward; it’s a rating that tells you how effective your air filter is in comparison to other air filters on the market. In other words, the higher the MERV, the more effective the filter is at capturing small particles.
